The ARDC Hearing Board has recommended a six month suspension for a lawyer (a former judge) who while he was on the bench dismissed a traffic ticket for the daughter of one of his colleagues on the Court.
The lawyer allegedly marked the box on the form that the State’s Attorney had moved to dismiss the case, when, in fact, the State’s Attorney had done no such thing. There was no quid pro quo – it was simply a favor to a colleague.
A newspaper brought the incident to the attention of the public and others.
A sad story.
