The South Carolina Supreme Court suspended a Magistrate Judge for 45 days for engaging in a brawl with another man at a community event.
The court found that the Judge had violated several canons of the code of judicial ethics including Canon 1 (high standards of conduct); Canon 2 (failure to respect and comply with the law) and Section A of Canon 4 (Judge shall conduct all extra-judicial activities so that they do not demean the office).
