The courts have become much more determined since 2021 to issue sanctions against lawyers and clients who make baseless election fraud claims. The claims are easy to make but very difficult to allege and prove. In many of these cases, the plaintiff, usually a Republican, alleges that there was election fraud but provides no basis for that allegation. If you lost by 10,000 votes, you need at least 10,001 wrongly counted ballots to win. State election officials in Georgia, Arizona, and Michigan have suffered at the hands of election deniers. This latest decision is another legal blow to those who peddle conspiracy theories.
